Dr. Gosar Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign
For Immediate Release: May 3, 2016
PRESCOTT, ARIZONA – Today, Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04) released the following statement after filing 3,100 signatures from his nominating petitions with the Arizona Secretary of State and announcing his re-elect.
“I want to thank all of the good people in Arizona who took the time to sign my petitions. I am starting my re-election campaign and I look forward to representing you in Congress for another two years. I have several major goals left to complete. We need to reform our crazy and unfair tax laws. I want a flatter and fairer tax. I also want lower taxes. It’s you and your family’s money. The federal government wastes hundreds of billions every year. By lowering taxes we can eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.
“I also want to see a completed wall and 100% border security. Our open borders are a daily threat to our families and our economy. I will continue to push this until we win. I will not allow open border supporters to prevail. These people are endangering our families and exposing us to criminals, drug cartels, terrorists, sex traffickers and economic parasites. Help me continue the fight against this fifth column constantly trying to undermine this great country. I ask for your vote and continuing support. Together we will make our nation great again.”
During his relatively short tenure in Congress, Dr. Gosar has been extremely effective at delivering on the priorities of the people of Arizona without compromising his conservative principles. Paul has passed nine bills and 20 other legislative initiatives into public law. His 73 amendments that have passed through the House have cut or prevented more than $1.6 billion in wasteful government spending.
Dr. Gosar’s Intermountain West Corridor Development Act of 2015, H.R. 1612, was signed into law in December 2015 after being included in H.R. 22, the major transportation bill passed by Congress in the 114th Congress. Paul’s bill will allow I-11 to become the main transportation corridor, creating jobs and providing a major boost to Arizona’s economy in the process. The November 2014 Corridor Concept Report stated that I-11 and the Intermountain West Corridor will generate $22 billion for our economy and create at least 240,000 permanent jobs.
Paul knows that Arizona families want more freedom and less government. He believes that our Constitution is the greatest governing document in our our nation’s history and that this sacred charter is the cornerstone of our Republic. Paul is an adamant defender of the Rule of Law and has been leading the charge to secure our southern border and fight Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty.
Paul is focused on pursuing the interests of the people of Arizona, repealing burdensome regulations and fostering an environment for economic growth, securing the border and fighting illegal immigration, fixing a broken system in Washington D.C. and government accountability, cutting federal spending, protecting the Second Amendment, repealing Obamacare and pursuing an all-of-the-above energy strategy.
